This course takes you into the heart of 5G New Radio (NR), where flexibility and innovative spectrum use in both sub-6 GHz and mmWave frequencies are at the forefront. We’ll dive into the new physical layer standards that set the stage for a wide array of 5G applications. You'll explore how 5G NR interacts with existing wireless systems, and we'll spotlight three key 5G use cases in depth: Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communications(URLLC), and Massive Machine-Type Communications (mMTC). This course addresses the current challanges inherent with issues such as navigating new frequency spectrums, managing wide bandwidths, MIMO (Multi-input Multi-output) and Beam Steering. We’ll break down the differences between 5G NR’s non-standalone (NSA) and standalone (SA) modes to grasp the evolving role of the 5G base station (gNB).
