Course Overview

Macro Site Fundamentals introduces the foundational theories related to macro tower planning, construction, and troubleshooting process. The course introduces different types of cell site infrastructure and identifies the role of key stakeholders of the wireless industry. This course teaches different parts of a cell site, how to read and interpret RF plumbing diagrams, role of typical hardware components found at the top and bottom of the tower, and co-siting techniques for multiband and multi-technology cell tower. Key topics also include the understanding of uplink and downlink, new-generation of cell towers including Centralized RAN (C-RAN), and tower construction process.

Intended Audiences

  • Macro cell site designers and planners
  • Personnel looking to understand the cell site construction process and learn about the latest advancements at a macro tower.
  • Personnel looking to gain understanding of various types of cell sites, equipment, and hardware components used at a typical macro tower.

  • Wireless 101 is recommended

Key Takeaways

  • Identify various types of Cell Sites and gain system level understanding of various hardware components traditionally used at any typical macro tower.
